Reminiscing Activities

Whitebriars were fortunate to of borrowed some wonderful vintage items from the Bexhill Museum. Residents enjoyed sharing the items in an afternoon of plenty of chatter about times gone by.

Reminiscing is an important regular activity. Residents are given opportunities to talk of their own memories of their families, their time growing up, places where they have lived, holidays etc. These memories can be evoked by all of our five senses, looking at pictures, listening to music, and experiencing smells and touch.

Essential oils of reminiscent fragrance are a wonderful tool to engage conversations of past experiences, residents talked of cut grass, marzipan and other wonderful smells.

We also use games to get talking about the past, music games, quizzes, vintage afternoon teas and themed bingo.
