Creating Positive Outcomes

Week beginning 15th June

For a limited period we have decided to temporarily cease to update facebook/instagram daily, instead we will be updating the website every week with what has been going on in our day to day lives throughout isolation at Coast Care Homes.

This week staff and residents spent time together making decisions on how they would like to personalise and decorate their rooms. This is an ongoing project across all of our homes. We have discussed residents interests and hobbies, likes and dislikes and come up with some great creative ideas.  For example a resident who loves the band AC/DC has had a wall mural created by a talented member of the Coast Care Team along with the bands branded bedding. We have seen rooms having a sensory feel with twinkly lights and wall art made of family pictures or a collage of pictures of the residents interests.

The usual activities of games, quizzes, flower arranging and help with daily chores, have been enjoyed along with the wonderful sensory activity of pottery using a potters wheel.

We are normally regularly visited by 'Drawing Life', a fantastic group of people who organise a life drawing sessions in all our homes. They very kindly sent workbooks for our residents to complete in their absence. These workbooks have been very much appreciated.

We also saw Fathers Day being celebrated this week. Sadly due to lockdown we are still unable to welcome visitors coming to see their loved ones. Nevertheless we made the day a special one. Residents welcomed many cards and gifts and time was spent talking about our families and the roles we have played in them.
