October at Coast Care Homes

October has been a great month for our residents here at Coast Care Homes, with lots of exciting activities and outings going on. Residents have been getting involved in some in-house workshops that have included bulb planting, and bird feeder making. On top of this, all the usual music therapies, hairdressing, and massage sessions have been ongoing. Whitecliff Summer Party

On Saturday 7th of August 2010 residents, staff, family and friends gathered at Whitecliff to celebrate the Summer with a party.The afternoon kicked off with entertainment from residents favorite, Keyboard Player Andy Robertson, and as it was a lovely day, he performed out in the garden so everyone could enjoy the music in the sunshine. After alot of dancing and singing, there was a buffet on offer for all to tuck into, followed by a prize raffle draw thoroughly enjoyed by all.We are all looking forward to next years Summer Party.

Outing to Horse Riding School

On Thursday the 30th of July 2010, Whitecliff took one of their residents to a horse riding school in Pebsham. He had expressed a fondness of horses to staff as he had worked on a farm all his life, and said how much he would love to go and see them again. He had a lovely morning and spent time stroking and interacting with the horses, before watching them give riding lessons to people in the field.We hope to visit again soon.

Music Therapy at Whitecliff

Our residents at Whitecliff, have been really enjoying their music therapy program with Music 4 Health. In the latest program, residents played along to songs using a variety of instruments, and even had a go at composing an orchestra! There was also an Irish Jig that the residents took part in using plastic plates. To finish off the session there was a nostalgic quiz, in which our residents got all the questions right!We are all looking forward to the next Music 4 Health Visit.

Our Whitebriars Bexhill Care Home Summer Party 2010

On Saturday the 3rd of July, Whitebriars residents and staff, along with friends and family, enjoyed their 2010 Summer party.The weather was glorious, and there was smiling faces everywhere. We were lucky enough to have a visit from the Mayor of Bexhill who also came to join in the celebrations, and draw this years raffle. There was music entertainment from keyboard player Andy Robertson who's performance everyone enjoyed, as he played many requests from our residents. Residents, staff and friends and family were all dancing with each other in the lounge as Andy performed his set.After the music and raffle there was a buffet for everyone to tuck into and enjoy.The whole day was a success and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended.

Outings and Events

Here at Coast Care Homes all of our residents have been enjoying regular activities, outings and events since the turn of the year. Music entertainment is on-going in both homes, with Andy Robertson, a talented keyboardist, being a favorite of our residents at Whitebriars, and the Music for Health program going down a treat with our residents in Whitecliff.We have taken one of our residents to see the Wrestling at the Whiterock Theatre too, as he was always telling us about how it was his favorite sport when he was younger, and how he went to see it every weekend. He had a wonderful time and said he would always remember it. We took a camera with us and took photos of the event and made a photo album for him to keep. He was very pleased.This week another of our residents who is a great tennis fan went to see the tennis at Eastbourne. It was a wonderful day, the sun was shining and the players performed well. We saw 4 matches on centre court and we were there for over 10 hours!We continue to provide regular outings to the seafront, shops and cafe's for all our residents.Here are some pictures of the days out.

Whitecliff Care Home Hastings Refurbishment Complete

The complete refurbishment of our Whitecliff care home in St Leonards, Hastings is now complete including an impressive and beautiful new stained glass panelled window on the first floor landing.
No expense has been spared creating a clean, light, bright and homely atmosphere whilst retaining the classic features of this beautiful building. The home has 26 spacious en-suite bedrooms and impressive communal lounges.  All floors can be accessed by the stairs or full access lift. The garden has been opened to enable ample room for residents who wish to be outside and includes water features and raised flower beds.

Trip to the Theatre

Yesterday afternoon residents from both our homes, enjoyed a fantastic afternoon out at the Whiterock Theatre in Hastings, as they went to see We'll Meet Again, a show full of songs and stories from the wartime era. There was a range of variety acts on the stage, including both male, and female singers, a violinist and banjo player, and a comedian which all our residents found thoroughly entertaining. They all had ice creams and snacks during the interval, and raved about how brilliant the show was on the way home.It was a great day out for all.

This summers party was a garden barbecue at Whitebriars in Bexhill. The garden was decorated with bunting and balloons and the weather was luckily fabulous. The residents invited family and friends to join them for the event which stared at 3pm and went on until late evening. The party was a great success with all enjoying the day, especially the food cooked to perfection by Kevin and Shirley who manned the barbecue all afternoon.
