A taste of October Activities
Our activity co-ordinators work hard to create an activity programme for group activities and one to one activities that are appropriate for each individual resident.
Through October our staff and residents worked hard towards our Halloween parties. Many of the arts and crafts were spent turning our homes into temporary Halloween grotto's. Paper Mache, painting, sticking, drawing and cutting were included in these activities.
But also throughout the month many other activities took place. We had to say farewell to one of our lovely residents who was moving back to her homeland of Scotland to be with family. Residents worked hard making 'Scotland bunting' and other Scottish themed decorations for her party, which everyone enjoyed.
One of our residents at Whitebriars who has always been passionate about animals, had the opportunity of becoming a zoo keeper for the day. A carer accompanied her on her special day, they both had a wonderful time.
We regularly bake at Coast Care homes. Cakes are baked weekly by the residents. In October residents enjoyed making there own supper of pizza.
Life drawing was enjoyed at Whitebeach this month. We are very fortunate to have 'Drawing life' come to visit us. This is a voluntary organisation, we really appreciate their visits which our residents very much enjoy.
Reminiscing with residents individually and also in groups is a regular day to day activity between all our staff and our residents. This is done using residents photos, personal possessions, with old artefacts and conversations and discussions.
Our bus continues to take residents from each home two to three times a week on trips that vary from going for a cup of tea on the sea front to a full day out visiting a place of interest.
This is just a taster of daily activities, we strive to continue to give all of our residents positive outcomes whilst their stay with the Coast Care family.
