Technology Triumph for our residents
Since our last update, so much has happened at Coast Care Homes. We were awarded a grant through a government scheme called "Get Connected", which promotes the use of computer technology for older people. We now have two incredible touch screen computers which our residents can access with help on hand if needed. Families are able to send in photos, videos and messages and we are spending time sharing these memories and events with them. We are looking forward to our first Skype interactions shortly with some of residents who have families as far away as Florida and Australia.
Also with this fund, we have invested in Wii Games Consoles, laptops and Ipads which have been useful for reminiscence and travel. We have been getting together with residents to plan our minibus outings using the research tools on the internet. We have also got polaroid and digital cameras for residents to take pictures on our outings and these will appear on this page shortly.
As well as all of this happening, we have been setting up and starting our new Home Care
service. We are excited to now have Home Care
clients with us on our outings and in addition to this, they have their own trips going out every week. As well as the minibus outings, we provide a full and varied domiciliary care service so that clients have support at home in addition to a great social life. Many wonderful friendships have been made through this service and we expect many more will be in the future.
